From Wandering to Warrior: My Journey to a Faith that Stands

Written by Kathy Lindberg

Searching for Truth

I didn’t grow up in church. God wasn’t part of my upbringing. In college, I took an intro to

religion class out of curiosity. That class led me to major in religious studies, but instead

of discovering the God of the Bible, I was drawn to Eastern religions. I pieced together a

belief system that felt comfortable—a mix of ideas that made sense to me at the time.

A Shift in Belief

But in my early 40s, something shifted. My guitar teacher—a dear friend—began asking

thoughtful questions about life, faith, and what I believed. Those conversations stirred

something deep in me. I started to realize that my beliefs contradicted each other. How

could I claim to believe in a Creator God and yet live as though I didn’t know Him?

A Life-Changing Realization

That realization pierced my heart. I believed God had created me, but I didn’t have a

relationship with Him. That truth broke me. I accepted Christ, and everything began to

change.

Walking Through Rejection

Those early days of walking with Jesus were hard. I was the only believer in my family.

When I talked about my faith, I was often mocked. The rejection was painful. Eventually,

I stopped sharing altogether. If not for the love of my church family, I might have walked

away. They became my lifeline—God’s grace made tangible in a lonely season.

A New Season of Growth

But this past year has been different. Something inside me has awakened. I’ve grown

spiritually in ways I never expected, and I believe it’s because I finally surrendered

everything—my time, plans, and purpose. In response, God began calling me deeper.

A Defining Moment

One moment stands out clearly. It was my daughter’s 28th birthday - June of 2024. As I

wandered through a busy shopping mall, I was overwhelmed by the noise and excess.

Shelves full of things we don’t need. People rushing. Children playing under fluorescent

lights. I felt a deep ache: Where is the purpose in all of this?

A Spiritual Awakening

And then God whispered, You are standing on a battlefield.

Not one of flesh and blood, but a spiritual battlefield. The enemy is waging war for

hearts and minds. We’re not called to stand by—we’re called to fight. And God has

equipped us with His Word, His Spirit, and His armor. But we must choose to step into

the fight.

Standing Firm in the Word

For me, the key to standing strong is consistent time in God’s Word. It’s where we find

clarity, strength, and courage. Without it, we drift. With it, we stand firm.

A Personal Burden

This truth hit home even harder as I sat by my father’s hospice bed. Still the only

believer in my family, I watched him approach eternity without Christ. The weight of that

is something I carry. But it fuels my calling. Someone has to share the truth. Someone

has to bring the Gospel. The worlds NEEDS strong Christian women.

A Calling to Action

That’s why I launched Watered By the Word—a community to equip women to grow

deep in Scripture, embrace their identity in Christ, and carry the message of hope into a

broken world.

An Urgent Mission

We don’t have time to waste. The distractions are endless, but the call is urgent. God is

raising up an army of women rooted in Scripture and ready to stand. This has been my

burning bush moment—a call to deeper surrender and bold obedience.

An Invitation to Rise

And now, I want to invite you to rise up.

Sister, the world is desperate for truth. You were born for such a time as this. Your life

has eternal impact. Don’t wait for perfect circumstances. Start now. Open your Bible.

Pray boldly. Speak life. Live with intention.

Final Call

Let’s rise together—as women of the Word, daughters of the King, and warriors on the

battlefield. The harvest is plentiful. The workers are few. But our God is faithful.

The world is watching. Eternity is waiting.

Let’s make it count.
