Before Everything Changed: Life Before My Traumatic Brain Injury
A snapshot of life before my traumatic brain injury changed everything.
I wasn’t supposed to be where I was that night—but that night changed everything.
Anyone who knows me has probably heard this story before. It’s not always easy for people to hear. Some have been uncomfortable. Some have even cried.
But I will never stop sharing it.
Because even through the pain, I am thankful. I would not be who I am today without what happened, and I will always give God praise for what He has brought out of it.
This photo was taken just a few weeks before my accident. It represents a season of normal life before everything shifted—the kind of moment you never think will become a dividing line in your story.
At that time, I had just finished my second year of college and I was struggling. I felt like I had failed. I didn’t tell anyone I wasn’t going back. That night, I reluctantly went to a Christmas party I almost skipped.
I still remember sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch, feeling unsure and out of place. People were opening gifts, laughing, sharing moments of normalcy I didn’t realize I was about to lose.
That moment became the last memory I had before everything changed.
Six weeks later, I would wake up in a hospital room with no understanding of how I got there.
And my life would never be the same again.
Your story matters more than you know.
