When God Called Me to Let Go of the Hustle - Jenna Herrig

For years, I wore hustle like a badge of honor. I created content daily. I took every course, watched every training, and filled my calendar with tasks that promised growth.

I was determined, motivated, and passionate about what I was building.

But deep down, I was exhausted.

I was showing up for everyone - online and off - but quietly losing touch with the One who had called me in the first place.

And if I’m honest… I didn’t know how to stop.

Because somewhere along the way, I started to believe that hustle equaled faithfulness. That if I just worked harder, showed up more, did everything “right” - then I would see the results I was praying for.

But I didn’t realize that I had started chasing growth more than I was chasing God.

The Turning Point

In early 2025, I hit a wall.

I was feeling burnt out, drained, and unsure if I was even still on the path God had called me to. So I stepped away from social media for 31 days.

No posts. No stories. No checking in to “stay relevant.”

Just time to rest, reflect, and be still with God.

It was during that quiet month that He began to gently unravel the hustle mindset I had been clinging to. He reminded me that my value isn’t found in what I produce.

My identity isn’t tied to visibility or results. And His plans for my life don’t require me to burn out trying to keep up.

The Launch That Led to Burnout

One of the moments that opened my eyes was after a big launch I had poured my heart into. I did all the “right” things - built the email sequence, showed up live, and promoted consistently. I thought this was the one. The breakthrough. The turning point.

But when the results didn’t match the effort, I felt crushed.

Not because I didn’t care about numbers, but because I had unknowingly tied my worth to the outcome.

And when the outcome didn’t look the way I wanted, I started questioning everything about my calling.

That was the moment I realized something had to shift.

Because I never want my obedience to be based on performance.

I want it to be based on peace.

And peace doesn’t come from proving. It comes from being planted in Him.

Letting Go of Hustle, Embracing Him

That season wasn’t just about taking a break. It was about re-learning what faithfulness looks like in business and life.

Sometimes, faithfulness looks like stepping back so God can realign your heart.

Sometimes, growth looks like less doing and more being with Him.

And sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do… is rest.

God never asked me to hustle.

He invited me to stay close.

And in that closeness, I began to dream again—but differently this time.

Not from striving. Not from pressure. But from peace.

I started creating content not because I had to… but because I wanted to.

I stopped chasing outcomes and started focusing on obedience.

And I started asking daily, “Lord, what do You want me to do with today?”

3 Ways to Build Your Business with Peace (Not Pressure)

If you’re ready to shift out of hustle mode and into something more sustainable and Spirit-led, here are three ways to build your business from a place of peace:

1. Start Your Workday in Stillness

Before you check notifications, open your email, or dive into content creation, pause. Spend 5–10 minutes in prayer or journaling. Invite the Lord into your day. Ask Him what matters most. He knows the exact assignment for this season—and it might not be what’s trending.

2. Create Rhythms, Not Routines

Instead of rigid to-do lists that lead to guilt when things don’t get done, try building flexible rhythms. Maybe Mondays are for content, Wednesdays are for client work, and Fridays are for dreaming and strategy. Allow grace and space to be led by the Holy Spirit—even if that means pivoting mid-day.

3. Detach from the Outcome

This one is hard, but necessary. Faithfulness isn’t measured by followers, income, or engagement. It’s measured by obedience. Create, serve, and show up as you’re led—but leave the results in God’s hands. He brings the growth.

If You’re Feeling Burnt Out…

I want to encourage you - if you’re feeling tired, if your heart is weary, or if you’ve been chasing growth but missing God in the process:

It’s okay to stop.

It’s okay to slow down.

And it’s okay to let go of hustle in exchange for holy rest.

God doesn’t need your performance. He wants your heart.

He doesn’t bless burnout. He blesses obedience.

There is space for your dreams, your business, and your calling, without sacrificing your soul to build it.

A Final Word

Letting go of the hustle didn’t mean giving up on my business.

It meant letting God rebuild it with Him at the center.

And I’ve found that when He’s in it, there’s more joy, more clarity, and more peace… even when the process is slower than I expected.

So if He’s whispering to your heart today, inviting you to slow down—listen.

It just might be the beginning of something even better.
